Push: a refund based on the score

Push: a refund based on the score: push stake back

A push happens when the score lands exactly on the line, and the stake is returned. A total of 2.0 with exactly 2 goals. An Asian handicap of 0 and a draw. The picture shows push, stake back. In the diary: 0u. Not "almost won", because "almost" does not exist. A European handicap may treat the same gap as a separate outcome, X; that is not a push, and if you did not bet on it, it simply loses for you.

Push as a refund based on the score, in plain words

A push is a refund based on the score, not a cancelled match. Void means there was no match; a push means the match was played and the line is built that way. Half lines such as 2.5 cannot produce a push. Quarter lines can produce a half push. If you do not want zeros, do not take whole-number lines.

How it works

Record a push separately from a void. For ROI, count the turnover of a push the way you decided in advance (many include the turnover with a profit of 0). Do not change the rule after a run of pushes. Do not chase a push because "it should have been a win".

  1. Find out whether the market can push.
  2. Score → push, win or loss.
  3. 0u in the table.
  4. No revenge bets.

Example with numbers

Over 2.0, and the game ends 1:1: push. Over 2.5 on the same score: a loss. You might have bought 2.5 and then felt angry about an "unfair zero" that does not exist: you chose a line with or without a gap yourself. AH −1 with a 1:0 win is a typical Asian handicap push. EH −1 on the same score: check the rules, as covered in the markets course.

Common mistakes

  • Recording a push as a win.
  • Confusing a push with a void.
  • Chasing after a zero.
  • Not knowing whether a line has a gap.

What to write in your diary

A push tag, 0u and the exact line.

Push, Asian handicap. Next: maximum payout.
