Lesson 12 of 12 · 4 min
Practice: one match, one sheet
Practice means one match from the [match centre](/matches) and one sheet, not a whole tournament. The sheet covers the question, home advantage, form broken down, xG if available, news and the XI, the fixture list, weather if relevant, one p, the price, and a decision: 1u or skip. Accumulators are not allowed for this exercise, and neither are in-play bets. Next comes responsible gambling: even a perfect sheet does not turn betting into a job.
"Practice: one match, one sheet" in plain words
The sheet trains how often you think, not how often you click. To pass, you need a completed sheet plus a line in your diary. A click is not required. Three empty previews from YouTube do not count. Bonulist does not offer a "bet of the day"; the fixture list is raw material, not a signal.
How it works
Choose the match before you start scrolling through the markets. Fill in the fields in the order of the course. Set p before you shop around. Then use one bookmaker, check the maximum stake and confirm the bet is accepted. If you skip, the sheet is still complete. Do not add facts after a loss in the evening: that is a different story, not practice.
- One match.
- Fill in the sheet in order.
- Set p before you see the price.
- 1u or skip, plus a line in your diary.
Example with numbers
The sheet: question, under 2.5; home advantage typical; form broken down shows both create little against mid-table sides; xG for about 1.1; first-choice XI; 6 and 6 days of rest; no wind; p for the under, 58%; implied probability, 52%; maximum stake fine. A single of 1u on the under. Not "the home win as well, since I was looking anyway". A second market needs a second sheet, or it is off limits for this exercise.
| Field | Practice |
|---|---|
| Matches | 1 |
| Markets | 0 or 1 |
| Accumulator / in-play | no |
Common mistakes
- Five matches "for learning".
- Two markets on one sheet.
- Setting p after seeing the odds.
- Thinking a pass requires a click.
What to write in your diary
Attach the sheet or summarise its fields. State the decision clearly.
Next: responsible gambling. Glossary: expected goals, form.
