Glossary
A betting dictionary: odds, margin, handicap, totals, bankroll and other line terms.
Each card is a full article: what the term means, how books price it, a worked example and common mistakes. This is a player reference, not tips and not a place to bet.
Odd/even
Whether the total of goals or points is odd or even. Close to 50/50, but margin is still inside.
Odds
The number your stake is multiplied by if the bet wins. It is both a payout and a probability quote.
Opening line
The first price a book posts. The market then trades toward the close as money and news arrive.
Outright
A long-term bet on a tournament outcome, not a single match. Champion, group, top scorer.
Overround
The sum of implied probabilities on a market. An overround of 105% means about 5% margin.
Over/under
The two sides of a total: over the line or under it. On 2.5 there is no push.
